Technology has advanced to the point where video games look like movies. Some of the cutscenes in games like Horizon Zero Dawn are so breathtaking you forget you’re playing a game. You feel like getting the popcorn out and sipping on a large Pepsi.
Having said that, you could easily be missing out on an even better gaming experience at home. If you’re a casual gamer that just picks up a controller and plays on the nearest TV, then you don’t know what you’re missing! Below, you will find some crazy cool ways of upgrading your home gaming setup. Try them out, and tell me you aren’t impressed with the results.

Sound is a huge part of your gaming experience, and most people don’t get the most out of it. They turn on their game and just play the sound through their TV speakers. When you’ve done this your whole life, you don’t see anything wrong with it. It seems normal to you, and you don’t know that you’re missing out because you haven’t experienced the alternative.
What is the alternative? Plugging in a headset with surround sound capabilities. Now, some people argue that a surround sound speaker system is just as good, but I wholeheartedly disagree. They take longer to set up, and they can be too loud leading to noise complaints from your neighbors. With a headset, you can truly immerse yourself in the game and experience all the sounds and noise. Believe me, you’ll have a newfound appreciation for the people behind the audio in video games after this. It makes you feel like you’re in the game, you can play Madden and feel like you’re in the stadium, or play Battlefield and it sounds like you’re on an actual battlefield.
The best thing about them is that you don’t have to go through any complicated setup process at all. You just plug them into whatever console you’re using, and they’re ready to go.

Personally, I don’t like to get involved in the whole ‘console vs. PC’ war that’s been raging for a good decade now. Everyone knows that PC’s provide more power, which enables them to run games at higher framerates, with better graphics, and less lag. There’s no argument there, but games consoles are more affordable, easier to move around if you want to take one to your mates, and they do have a few exclusive games too.
With that being said, even if you are a console gamer, you’re missing out on so much potential by not gaming on a PC. I suggest you revolutionize your desktop gaming experience a state-of-the-art gaming PC and use it to play some of the big games that require lots of processing power. Those open world exploration games like Skyrim are much better on PC because you can get more out of them. You get 4k graphics, 60 frames per second, and it really brings the world to life. GTA 5 came out in like 2013, and it still looks like a new game when played on PC.
Essentially, you’re just adding another string to your gaming bow here. Now, you won’t miss out on PC classics, and you can still play on your console whenever you want as well!

So, we’ve addressed the sound, the system you game on, now it’s time to talk about visuals. Any gamer that tells you they don’t care about graphics is a liar, period. After all, technology has given us so much good stuff in the last few years, including amazing graphics cards for games consoles and PCs. As such, it’s a shame to waste all this good technology on a poor display.
A 4K monitor is pretty much the best you can get right now. There are whispers of 8K monitors on their way, but what’s the point? Consoles have only just started to cater to 4K, and you won’t find many – or any- PC games that play in 8K.
With a 4K monitor, you can see the game in its full glory. You get the most out of the graphics, and your whole experience is made a lot better. This is when you get those moments where it feels like you’re watching a movie.
If you’re an avid gamer, give these ideas a try and watch your gaming experience explode. You’ll be so mad at yourself for not doing these things earlier, trust me, they make a huge difference!
