Blogging on your phone might not be the ideal scenario, but it’s definitely something you can do when you’re on the go. If you work full time and struggle putting out as much content as you’d like, how about making the most of your commute time or lunch hour? It might not be practical to bring your laptop to work with you, but you always have access to your phone. You could type up post ideas or full posts, and then properly format them and add images when you’re on the computer. Blogging while you’re on the go keeps you occupied and being in a different environment might actually spark new ideas and help with creativity. Both Blogger and WordPress have apps you can use, or you could use the notes or a word processing app to jot down ideas for when you are finally sat down to do some blogging.
If you fancy earning a little pocket money from your smartphone, there are tonnes of apps that allow you to do so quickly and easily. You can accumulate points and turn them into cash by checking into local businesses, watching videos, surfing the web or scanning your receipts. If you’re feeling lucky, you could try winning some cash instead. Sites like FoxyCasino have a range of games you could try your hand at and maybe even win yourself some cash! Providing you’re sensible about it, it can be a fun way to kill some time and maybe win some money in the process.
No need to trawl bookshops these days. You can have just about any novel, self-help book, cookery book, poetry anthology or anything else delivered digitally right to your mobile phone. With access to so much literature, we really should all be reading more, have a browse on Amazon and download a couple that grab your interest. Most e-books are incredibly cheap, some are even completely free so well worth a look. It can seem a bit strange at first reading on your phone, but you soon get used to it, you spend all day scrolling and looking at it why would reading a book
We live in an amazing age, we have access to the whole internet available right at our fingertips on a pocket-sized device. Why not make the most of the information that’s out there? If you’re interested in a topic, learn about it! Read articles, watch Youtube tutorials and documentaries. The best thing is you can learn about whatever obscure topic interests you, however strange or random you can bet there’s a whole wealth of information out there. If you already have a hobby, whether it’s photography, cooking, golfing or something else entirely, brush up your knowledge when you have nothing else to do and are sitting on your phone. A fantastic way to improve your skill! It’s worth looking at apps too, you could learn your theory test if you’re in the process of getting your driver’s license, you could learn a new language or even use an educational app for adults. Apps like Khan Academy for example allow you to brush up on traditional subjects like maths, English, economics and more.

It might not be the most productive thing to do, but playing a game can kill a bit of time when you’re at a loose end. Some games are incredibly addictive, and actually pretty enjoyable in the most annoying way possible. It’s always worth having a couple of good ones on your phone and ready to go when you need them. VR headsets for smartphones are becoming increasingly popular and are really inexpensive, well worth trying out if you’re addicted to your phone! It might not be something you’d pop on while you were waiting for the bus or were out and about, but it’s a fun way to kill some boredom if you’re at home.
With so many social apps and sites, it’s easier than ever before to stay in contact with loved ones. If you know you’re not great at this, make a conscious effort to do more. Drop the people you care about a text, a Whatsapp message or a private message on Facebook. Or you could actually use what the phone is designed for… and call them! While it’s always better to meet up and spend time in person, when that’s not possible our phones and technology make it simple to keep in contact so make the most of it.
Have a wishlist as long as your arm? Why not knock a couple of things off by making purchases from your phone. It’s quick, easy and convenient and a great way to treat yourself after a hard week at work. Forget traipsing the shops when everything you need is all available at the click of a button. Download the apps for your favourite stores, and you can easily browse through sales or new additions whenever you’re feeling a bit spendy. Speaking of shopping, you could even do your grocery shopping online. Sure it’s not the most fun task in the world, but it has to be done. Way more convenient than traipsing around the supermarket, and if you have a regular list of items you buy weekly, it’s as simple as adding to basket and clicking pay.
